For SBS 2008 and 2011 users, an easy and more direct way to connect to your office computer is to configure your Remote Desktop Connection on the computer you want to use to connect to your office computer so that it can find your office computer and connect you without having to use Remote Web Workplace.

Here's How:
Open up your RDP connection, click on the Advanced Tab, then click on the Connect from anywhere Settings Button.
Next, click on the Use these RD Gateway server settings and enter the IP address of your SBS server or fully qualified domain to connect to it. Example: remote.yourdomain.com
Click OK, then in the General Tab, enter the computer name of the computer you are trying to access that is inside your office. Example: mycomputer-pc
Next, enter your domain user name and password, save the connection settings and login!

This is much easier than using Internet Explorer in compatibility view settings, replacing dll's as Microsoft patches them with incompatible versions, etc.

Here is a workaround for the updates for Windows 10 Anniversary update that breaks Remote Web Workplace users connectivity to their workstations:

On the computer used to connect to the remote computer:

I got it working as a workaround by replacing the mstscax.dll (Version 10.0.14393.0) in %windir%\SysWOW64\ with the "backup file" in "Windows.old\WINDOWS\SysWOW64" version (10.0.10586.494)

I had to take ownership of the file and give Administrators Full control access to be able to replace the file.

Here are some common pattterns to look for when scanning web pages for compromised files.  All except the last one create a file where the line is executed called maybeinfected.  You can go through each file and find and remove injected code.  It is typically packed garbled text that hides the code because it is usually obfussicated or encoded to avoid detection.

found a work around for this on SBS 2008.  Navigate to "C:\Program Files\Windows Small Business Server\Bin\webapp\Remote" on the SBS server.   In that directory you will find a file named tsweb.aspx, right click it and edit it.  Go about 1/4 to 1/3 of the way through the file and look for the section that looks this:

What I did was to comment out the second part of that statement so it looks like this

Linux Servers:

Check the /etc/resolv.conf
Make sure they are all valid and responding...especially the first one!

Easy fix for this problem.  Using the registry editor, delete this key:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MSLicensing

Any file with the # symbol in it the name won’t sync.  Special characters should be avoided in file and folder names.

Have you ever received a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft with information about your computer being on the verge of crashing?  They claim to be the authority and say that they need to make you aware of your computer problems.  They direct you to open your computer's Event Viewer log files by asking you to use the run line and enter: eventvwr. 

At this point, they try and scare you into thinking there really could be some problems by showing you the red X critical error messages that EVERY event viewer will have!  Next, they will ask for money or try and direct you to a screen sharing tool so that they can access your computer.  DON"T DO IT!  My suggestion is to play along until they give you a key that provides them with access to your computer.  Write the number down and hang up.  You can report this fraudulant activity to the company that hosts the website that they were trying to use to access your computer.  They key will allow that compnay to disable their account and report the fraudulant activity to the proper authorities.

Windows 7 got some improved features than Vista including speed of network.  Sometimes you may notice the network slowness compare to XP due to more advanced features and requirements. These 6 easy steps to help solving Windows 7 network slow problem by disabling some features.

Network is a major factor in computing. Windows 7 computers will be slow in accessing shares on old MS Windows servers and non MS Operating systems including Sun and Linux. Accessing data and transferring data over network are still problem in this case. Resolving DNS requests internally (LAN or WAN) and externally (Internet) also could be slow in Windows 7. The following methods I’m listing out is worked for me to speed up Windows 7 networking with NT,2003 and Sun servers.

How to Fix Windows 7 network slow problem?

1) Disable Autotuning

Disabling autotuning will help much on DNS lookup and network discovery. It improves the data transfer speed also over the network. Disabling autotuning in windows 7 is very similar to Windows vista method. Read more here about disabling autotuning in windows vista.

To recap important steps,

Start command prompt as administrator, and follow the commands as shown in below example.

2) Remove RDC ( Remote Differential Compression)

This feature introduced with Windows Vista to transfer data over network in compressed format. The same RDC feature continued in Windows 7 also. Since most of the old operating systems came before vista do not support this RDC feature, it slows down network data transfer in windows 7. You can remove this RDC (Remote Differential Compression) in windows 7 by visiting control panel and programs and features. Click on ‘Turn Windows features on or off’, as shown below.

3) Remove IPv6 from network properties.

If your internal or external networks do not  require  IPv6 protocol, better remove it under network connection properties. Keeping IPv6 in your computer sometimes slows down network by trying to register IPv6 addresses, or trying to get IPv6 address, or trying to resolve IPv6. Better remove it if it’s not required.

4) Clear DNS Cache

You can remove any DNS cache from computer, so next time DNS request will be solved by updated DNS server. This will avoid your computer to try broken or changed DNS records from cache. To clear DNS cache, open command prompt as administrator and type ipconfig /flushdns

5) Disable Wireless Network and any additional (including Virtual adapters) network adapters.

If you will not be using wireless network or it’s your secondary network, I recommend you to disable wireless network in windows 7 under network connection.  If it’s enabled, windows 7 computer will be trying to connect available wireless network around you, and trying to login though its network. Loading your profiles and start up programs will be slow while booting because of this.

6) Modifying Link Speed &amp; Duplex Value in Network adapter Properties.

This step also helps sometimes when you face problem with windows 7 network slow. I can’t say which option will work better, because it depends on your physical network setup (network adapter, cable type, LAN speed and network switch). By default it is set for Auto Negotiation. But you can play around with Value options and find out which is working better for your computer and network.

Error 1083: The executable program that this service is configured to run in does not implement the service

1.Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
2.Locate and click the following registry key:

3.Click the value for the service that you attempted to start.
4.On the Edit menu, click Multi String, and then add the following values:

Ldapsvc
Smtpsvc
Nntpsvc
Imap4svc
Pop3svc
Resvc

1. Mark sure none of the following processes are running in Windows Task Manager: groove.exe, msosync.exe, msouc.exe, winword.exe, excel.exe, powerpnt.exe.

2. Open the Command Prompt (run as administrator), remove Office file cache and folders by running the commands below:

1) cd %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\
2) rmdir OfficeFileCache /s
3) cd %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\
4) rmdir Spw /s

3. If the issue persists after doing this, sometimes Repair Office can be a good solution. Please try to Repair Office from the Control Panel and check to see whether these issues still exist.
